Tarot is an ancient form of divination dating back many years. There is still some debate of it’s origin but Egypt or Europe are the most widely accepted. It has been said that the Tarot is a book cleverly disguised as a set of cards. It's symbolic designs can be helpful in developing our intuition and for meditation purposes.

The Romany Gypsies of Europe were well known for their predicting abilities. When a Grandmother was to retire she would pass on her cards, wisdom and knowledge to the eldest Granddaughter. The myth that you cannot buy your own Tarot Cards may have come from this tradition.

A Tarot pack consists of 78 cards divided into two main sections. There are 22 Major arcana and 56 Minor arcana cards. Arcana means hidden, secret or mysteries. The 22 Major arcana cards from 0 to 21 deal mainly with the spiritual path and the 56 Minor cards with the physical path.

The 56 Minor arcana cards are divided into four suits of 14 cards . The wands, pentacles (coins), swords and cups. Each suit has 10 pip cards from ace to ten and four court cards (Page, knight, Queen and king)

Depending on which card, where it falls in a spread (how it is laid out) and what other cards surround it all have an influence on a reading

Each card has a general meaning but interpretations can vary. It is the energies of the card, reader and sitter (client) combined that create a reading. Remember to only take from a reading what feels true for you.
